Tap bolts, also called hex tap bolts, extremely resemble hex bolts except they have threads extending all the way down the shanks, no matter what their lengths are. Tap bolts are generally used in drilled or tapped holes in conjunction with hex nuts and flat washers.
Tap bolts are available in a wide range of diameters, from M6 to M24, in both low carbon steel or stainless steel for different applications. Normally, steel tap bolts are widely used in general applications including woodworking and railroad construction, etc. They are lower in cost, but less anti-corrosive. Thus, they are often coated with zinc to make up for a lack of corrosion resistant to add more applications. While, stainless steel tap bolts are ideal for boat building, marine construction, water treatment and multiple applications where superb corrosion resistance is required.
