Fish are preserved through such traditional methods as drying, smoking and salting. The oldest traditional way of preserving fish was to let the wind and sun dry it. Drying food is the world's oldest known preservation method, and dried fish has a storage life of several years. The method is cheap and effective in suitable climates; the work can be done by the fisherman and family, and the resulting product is easily transported to market.
Pure dried fish is a completely natural product that retains the antioxidant and omega-3 benefits of fresh fish, while constituting a healthy and widely available food for people. Most dried fish contains little salt or cholesterol while being high in essential vitamins and minerals. It also is low in saturated fat, which is known to aggravate or cause heart and blood-pressure problems.

1.Dried herring fish
Herring is one of the very best food sources of vitamin D. Our bodies make this vitamin in sunlight, but in our climate, it's easy not to get enough.
